Amy Galinko | a gal's art

Amy Galinko is deeply inspired by colors and patterns found in nature. Her watercolor paintings emphasize the energy and light that she observes throughout the continuously changing seasons. She enjoys painting landscapes with architectural elements, including local landmarks in the Lower Hudson Valley region where she lives. She also creates watercolor collage, a technique in which she repurposes her practice paintings by cutting or tearing paper and recycling them into something new and beautiful. She draws inspiration for her collages from the wonder and awe through which her three young children experience the world.

Amy's artistic immersion occurred relatively recently. In 2017, faced with the challenge of being a mom to three kids under the age of 3, Amy took a break from her career in healthcare to focus on her family. During this time she enrolled in a local watercolor class and started A Gal’s Art to share her artistic endeavors.  Amy finds that watercolor painting provides a space for her creative energy and also offers invaluable insight about patience and going with the flow that can be applied elsewhere in life.

Amy lives in Cortlandt Manor, NY with her husband, their three young children and a flock of rebellious chickens!
